Honey by the Sea is a family-run business in the picturesque seaside village of Leigh, 83 km north of Auckland, New Zealand. Nestled between cliffs, sandy beaches, and native flora like Pōhutukawa, Mānuka, and Kānuka, our bees gather nectar and pollen from this rich coastal landscape, producing honey with unparalleled depth and complexity. At the heart of our operation is Andres, a seasoned beekeeper with over 15 years of experience and a strong background in biology. His passion for bees has evolved from research to hands-on production, always prioritizing quality over quantity. Pamela, the logistical mastermind, ensures the smooth operation of our business, keeping everything on track from hive to jar. Our commitment to authenticity is evident in our signature product: pure honeycomb. Created during the peak of nectar flow, our foundationless comb is delicately thin, packed with a high honey-to-beeswax ratio, and rich in bee pollen, minerals, and enzymes—just as nature intended. One of our most unique offerings is our Mānuka Cold Smoked Honeycomb. After harvesting, the honeycomb is carefully hand-cut, then slowly smoked for 10 hours to infuse it with the distinctive flavor of Mānuka wood. This delicacy is perfect when paired with creamy blue or Brie cheese, offering a truly exceptional taste experience.
