Jordie MacDonald Ceramics is a small, one-woman-run pottery business that makes functional pottery using as much local New Zealand material as possible. The current collection is 100% Canterbury clay that has been pounded, processed, sieved and dried before wheel thrown and fired in a shared studio in New Brighton. Jordie’s ceramic business was born from a hobby-turned-obsession and a very generous long-term lend of a pottery wheel. She first started working with clay in 2007 when she received a wheel throwing pottery course as a gift. Jordie’s ethos is to create functional ceramics that are both beautiful and tell a story, and to source materials as locally as possible.
