Like many small towns in New Zealand, the Gisborne main street gets a bit of a hard time these days. Empty buildings are common and most of us never experienced it in it's hey day when locals would get dressed up to go into town and do their shopping, go to a tea room or even the 'pictures'. I wanted to do a little piece that celebrates our special CBD, with the town clock at the heart, bunting and the majestic palms that line Gladstone Road. 20x25cm Acrylic on canvas
