For a deeper clean, use a natural mix of water, white vinegar, and a few drops of essential oil like tea tree or lavender, which protects the cork’s anti-microbial properties. Let the mat air dry completely before rolling it up, avoiding direct sunlight or heat sources to prevent damage. Store it rolled with the cork side outward in a cool, dry place, away from high humidity or hot environments. When it’s time to replace your mat, dispose of it sustainably. Cork can often be composted or recycled, and natural rubber breaks down in composting settings. Alternatively, repurpose it into coasters, garden kneeling pads, or donate it to a local yoga studio or charity to extend its life responsibly.
